What 65,000 reviews reveal about a good music player
Short answer: across 65,802 Google Play reviews of Audify (Jan 2025 – Jun 2026, averaging 4.67★), five things decide whether people love a music player: it works offline and keeps working for years, it is easy to use, the sound and equalizer are good, lyrics matter more than you would expect — and ads are the number-one dealbreaker.
By the numbers
What listeners praise most
Reading the written reviews, the same four themes come up again and again — and notably, none of them is about having the most features:
Ease of use
The most common compliment by far. People want to open the app and play their music, with a clean interface they do not have to learn. “Simple” and “easy to use” appear across every language.
Sound and the equalizer
The next big theme. Good out-of-the-box sound plus a real equalizer with bass control is what makes listeners feel the app respects their music and their headphones.
Offline, for years
Reviewers repeatedly mention using the app “since 2020” or “on every phone.” Reliable offline playback that survives phone changes builds the kind of loyalty features alone cannot.
Free lyrics
A quieter but recurring delight: being able to see and save lyrics for the song playing. It is mentioned far more often than you would expect for a “nice to have.”
A global audience
One surprise in the data: the biggest review base is not English. Spanish-speaking listeners leave the most reviews by a wide margin, which is why free offline music tools matter far beyond the English-speaking market.

Methodology
Figures are computed from Audify’s Google Play Console review export for com.musicplayer.playermusic — all 65,802 ratings submitted between January 2025 and June 2026. The star average, the 4–5★ share, the 1–2★ share and the per-language counts are direct calculations over that export; theme observations come from reading the 6,300+ ratings that included written text. Play Console exports are anonymized, so no individual reviewers are identified. Audify’s lifetime rating is 4.5★ from 1.28M+ ratings.
Common questions
What do people value most in a music player?
Across 65,802 Audify reviews, the themes that recurred most in positive ratings were ease of use, good sound and equalizer control, reliable offline playback that keeps working for years, and free lyrics. Feature count mattered less than getting these basics right.
What is the most common complaint about music apps?
Ads. In this data set, 4% of ratings were 1 or 2 stars, and intrusive ads were the single most common reason. It is the clearest dealbreaker — far more than missing features.
How trustworthy is this data?
It is first-party and computed, not estimated: every figure comes from Audify’s own Google Play review export of 65,802 ratings submitted between January 2025 and June 2026. See the methodology note at the end.
