How to hide WhatsApp audio and short clips from your music library

Short answer: turn on Audify’s “ignore short clips” filter (hide audio under 30, 60 or 90 seconds) and blacklist folders like WhatsApp Audio and Recordings. Voice notes and ringtones then disappear from your songs.

The 5 stepsWhy recordings show upCommon questions

Clean up your library in 5 steps

  1. 1. Open Audify’s Settings. Go to Settings from the menu, where the library filters live.
  2. 2. Turn on “ignore short clips”. Enable the filter that hides audio shorter than a set length — you can choose 30, 60 or 90 seconds. Most voice notes and ringtones fall under this.
  3. 3. Blacklist the WhatsApp Audio folder. Add folders like WhatsApp Audio, Voice Recorder or Ringtones to the blacklist so their files never appear in your music.
  4. 4. Hide individual songs or albums. For one-off strays, open a track or album’s 3-dot menu and choose Hide.
  5. 5. Rescan your library. Trigger a rescan so the filters take effect and your song list shows only real music.

Why recordings show up in the first place

Android’s media system indexes every audio file on the phone — songs, WhatsApp voice notes, call recordings, ringtones and app sounds. Any music player that reads your library inherits all of it.

That’s why the fix is filters rather than deleting anything: the short-clip length filter catches most voice notes automatically, and the folder blacklist handles the rest — without touching the files themselves.

Common questions

How do I stop WhatsApp voice notes showing in my music?

Turn on the “ignore short clips” filter (30/60/90 seconds) and add the WhatsApp Audio folder to Audify’s blacklist. Voice notes then stop appearing among your songs.

How do I hide a whole folder from my library?

In Settings, add the folder to the blacklist (ignore list). Everything inside it is excluded from your library until you remove it.

How do I bring hidden songs back?

Open Settings and review your Hidden Items and blacklisted folders, then un-hide or remove them from the ignore list.
