How to hide WhatsApp audio and short clips from your music library

Short answer: on More → Scan Media, set “Ignore audios less than” (it starts at 30 seconds) and add folders like WhatsApp Audio and Recordings under Ignore folders. Voice notes and ringtones then disappear from your songs.

Clean up your library in 5 steps

1. 1. Open Scan Media. On the More tab, open Scan Media, where the library filters live.
2. 2. Set “Ignore audios less than”. This filter hides audio shorter than the length you set. It starts at 30 seconds and you can raise it; most voice notes fall under it.
3. 3. Ignore the WhatsApp Audio folder. Tap Ignore folders and select folders like WhatsApp Audio or Voice Recorder, so their files never appear in your music.
4. 4. Hide individual songs or albums. For one-off strays, open a song’s 3-dot menu and choose Hide Song (for an album, Hide Album).
5. 5. Rescan your library. Tap Start scan on the same screen so the filters take effect and your song list shows only real music.

Why recordings show up in the first place

Android’s media system indexes every audio file on the phone — songs, WhatsApp voice notes, call recordings, ringtones and app sounds. Any music player that reads your library inherits all of it.

That’s why the fix is filters rather than deleting anything: the short-clip length filter catches most voice notes automatically, and Ignore folders handles the rest — without touching the files themselves.
