Why are some of my songs missing?

Short answer: four things usually explain it: the library needs a rescan, the short-clip filter is hiding them, they sit in a hidden or blacklisted folder, or their file tags are broken. Check each in order below.

How to find themWhere Audify looksCommon questions

How to find your missing songs

  1. 1. Rescan your library. Newly added files sometimes need a manual rescan before they appear. Trigger it from Audify’s menu or settings.
  2. 2. Check the short-clip filter. If you turned on “ignore short clips”, songs under your chosen length (30/60/90s) are hidden. Lower or turn off the filter if it is catching real tracks.
  3. 3. Check Hidden Items and the blacklist. A song, album or folder you hid or blacklisted won’t show. Review Hidden Items and the folder ignore list in Settings.
  4. 4. Confirm the folder isn’t excluded. Make sure the folder holding the songs isn’t on the ignore list — whole folders can be excluded at once.
  5. 5. Fix broken tags. Files with no title or corrupt tags can slip out of view. Open the tag editor to repair them, then rescan.

Where Audify looks for music

Audify builds your library from Android’s MediaStore — the system index of audio on your device. If a file isn’t indexed yet (just copied over) or is filtered out, it won’t appear until you rescan or adjust the filter.

This is also why a file can be “on the phone” but not in the player: presence on storage and presence in the library index are two different things. A rescan reconciles them.

Common questions

Why are songs missing after I added them?

They may not be indexed yet. Trigger a rescan in Audify, and check the short-clip filter isn’t hiding them by length.

Why are my SD-card songs missing?

Confirm the SD-card folder isn’t blacklisted and that a rescan has run. Audify reads SD-card music through the system media index like any other folder.

New downloads aren’t showing — what do I do?

Rescan the library. If they still don’t appear, check they aren’t under the short-clip length filter or in a hidden/ignored folder.
